Divine Mercy Girls Seminary (DMGS) Tanzania, Africa A Catholic Secondary Boarding School for Girls Founded in 2014
There is an urgent need to educate and empower girls in Tanzania, which is primarily an agricultural society. Most girls from rural areas are not educated beyond elementary school. This is due to secondary schools being located only in cities and lacking safe boarding. DMGS provides a Catholic secondary school education including safe boarding for girls. DMGS students are free to discern either a religious vocation as a nun or a non-religious vocation. Empowering girls through education and spiritual formation helps break the cycle of poverty. St. Therese of the Little Flower Orphanage (STLFO) Burundi, Africa
2007
2022
The Burundi genocide left children orphaned, starved, homeless and emotionally scarred. In response, the Sisters of St. Therese of the Child Jesus founded St. Therese of the Little Flower Orphanage in 1996. The Sisters created a loving family environment that allowed the children to adopt a spirit of forgiveness for the pain caused by genocide.
Since 2006, the Orphanage Sponsorship Program has been serving 55 children from early childhood through young adult. The majority of the 55 students are now living self-sufficiently. Those remaining in the sponsorship program (as shown in photo above) currently attend college, except for one with special needs. To read more click below:
